Church Baseball

BaseballWelcome to the home page of FIRST METHODIST BASEBALL, an outreach program of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Smith, Arkansas since 1955. Under the direction and guidance of Dr. Ted Skokos, for whom Skokos Field is named, First Methodist began what became the Fort Smith Church Baseball League (FSCBL) with four teams playing at Lions Club Park (now known as Forsgren Field). The first four coaches were Dr. Skokos, Robert Jones, Jr., Delmar Edwards, and Lee Dunham. In 1957, two additional churches joined us to begin FSCBL. Our youth minister, Herschel McClurkin, served as the first league commissioner in 1958.

From that first season with 69 players, FSCBL has grown into a program serving over 80 teams and 1100 players.

Here is a breakdown of the leagues and the eligible ages, subject to change and the availability of players to field a First Methodist team:
