Mission Statement

The mission of the Single Adult Ministry of First United Methodist Church is to empower single adults in their journey toward spiritual, personal, and relational wholeness through Jesus Christ and fellowship with others.

Objectives

Provide opportunity for spiritual and personal growth through education and service.
Provide an atmosphere of acceptance, friendship, support, and enthusiasm.

Share the love of Christ by developing or strengthening a relationship with God.

SINGLES COUNCIL

Hats off to the members of the Singles Council who have embarked upon a journey to implement a vision for Singles Ministry for First United Methodist Church. The Singles Council meets monthly to plan activities for singles at FUMC. If you are a single at FUMC and would like input in this process, please feel free to contact one of the Council members:

Kaay Lipscomb, Suzanne Stephens, Jill Lemley, Janet Procell, Anna Brown, Donne Shrout, Jim Brown, Norris Creson, Pam O'Kelley, and Tricia Willroth.

Book Study Be Joyful book

The FUMC Singles Council’s goal is a wide variety of programs and projects of interest to all singles of different ages, even Senior Singles.
"Be Joyful" by Warren Wiersbe is our latest Bible Study. Rev. Beth Turner isis our leader. We will meet on Wednesdays, September 6, 27, and October 4, 25, 2006. Books will be available at the Bible study or in the church office.

Communion begins at 5:30p.m. in Roebuck Chapel. You will have time to go to communion and then come to our Bible study.

Divorce Adjustment Workshop

A Weekend of Hope and Discovery

The Divorce Adjustment workshop encompasses the entire week-end, with the exception of Sunday morning. It is open to anyone who has lost a love relationship, either by divorce or separation. The FUMC Team of Hope facilitates the workshop along with qualified professional speakers and pastors of the church. These persons have healed from their experiences of loss and want to pass on to others gentle support and loving care that was shared with them.
