FUMC - Now An Angel Food Host Site
What is Angel Food? Angel Food is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the U.S. The program began in 1994 in Monroe, Georgia and now serves thousands of families in approximately 32 states.
Who qualifies? Everyone, there are no applications or qualifications to order Angel Food.
How does it work? Angel Food’s groceries are sold in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit which includes sales taxes. A sample menu, which varies monthly, is attached. This pricing represents a 25%-50% savings. Generally, a unit of food will feed a family of four for a week or an individual for a month. Payment for units of food will be accepted at FUMC no later than two (2) weeks prior to the delivery date. Clients will receive a voucher for use on the day of food delivery.
Where does the food come from? The food is “restaurant grade” meats, frozen vegetables, fruits, dairy products, etc. which is acquired through Angel Food’s involvement with only the best producers/vendors of high quality, “name brand” foods. Never “seconds” or “day old” type products are involved.
Can we purchase more than one unit or special? Yes, you can purchase as many regular units as you would like. To purchase a special box you must first order a regular unit.
What is a specialty box? These are additional boxes of steaks, chicken or pork which can be purchased with a regular unit. There is no limit on quantities of specialty items.
Where do I pay and pick up my food? You will make payment at FUMC on designated order days at the information desk in the Family Life Center or by mail (making sure to include a stamped self addressed envelope) and will pick up your food at the Family Life Center of FUMC.
