Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry is staffed with intercessors who are willing to stand in the gap for others, allowing the Holy Spirit to intercede through them... sometimes in agony, sometimes in joy, but always in love.

Matthew 7:7,8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

Hebrews 4:16 "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

Our Prayer Teams Meet:

Wednesdays at noon in Memorial Chapel and
Wednesday evenings at 6:15 p.m., in Memorial Chapel

Prayer Pager Ministry

First United Methodist Church, Fort Smith, has begun a new caring ministry called the Prayer Pager Ministry. Families in need because of illness, surgery, or dealing with a crisis, etc. are provided a metro pager with new extended life batteries. The congregation is supplied the numerical phone number for the pager that has been given to the family (a local call.) When the number is called, the caller hears a programmed message that prompts them to enter their zip code. The families with the pager do not know WHO called, but they do know that a prayer has just been prayed in their behalf. Most families set the beeper to 'vibrate' so that just a gentle buzzing sound occurs when a prayer/page is received.  Many of our families, particularly the ones out-of-town for medical treatment, have reported that the gentle beeping of the pager makes them feel surrounded by love and supported by prayer.  Some have reported leaving the beeper on constantly--night and day--in order to hear the gentle sound of the beeper.   For more information call the church office at 479-782-5068.
