Guidelines

1. The FUMC Discipleship team oversees the FUMC Scholarship which utilizes funds contributed to the Scholarship Fund. 
2. Scholarship gifts received are over and above the established church budget and are not  to be considered a part of or used for any portion of the budget prepared by the Finance  Committee and adopted by the Administrative Board. 
3. While scholastic record and other factors will be considered. Financial need is of  particular concern. 
4. Awards are made on a one-time basis. 
5. The amounts of scholarships awarded will vary depending on the applicant's  circumstances, the number of applicants, and on the availability of funds. 
6. Applicants should not expect FUMC to fund all college expenses. Before applying for the  FUMC Scholarship, applicants should have sought financial aid through all common  sources of student financial assistance. 

Eligibility Requirements

1. The scholarship fund is available for deserving students who are active members of FSFUMC continuing education above the high school level including technical training, undergraduate or graduate studies. 
2. Initial application for scholarship should be made on the form provided (below). Any information which the applicant believes may be helpful should also be included. 
3. A minimum of one letter of recommendation must accompany their application. 
4. Applications for the 2025-26 school year should be turned into the FUMC offices or emailed to Communications Director ([email protected]) no later than June 30, 2025. 
5. If, for any reason, a recipient drops out of college before completing the semester for  which FUMC Scholarship funds have been awarded, that semester's award shall be refunded to FUMC unless an exception is specifically approved. 
6. Applicants understand that the names of the scholarship recipients may be publicized in church publications including newsletter, bulletin, website, etc. Recipients are encouraged to be present and may be asked to participate in worship during the designated "High School Seniors" Sunday in May.
