Our Commitment

​At First United Methodist Church, our commitment to children, birth through 5th grade, provides environments through which boys and girls make important discoveries about God’s love. We want to nurture each child with love and  understanding, so that they will  experience the love of Christ, as well as encourage their full potential by celebrating each child’s unique qualities as given by God. An  early foundation in the scripture leads to a lifelong walk in their Christian life.

Safe Gatherings

Our staff is Safe Gatherings certified because your child's safety is very important to us. Safe Gatherings is a comprehensive system that incorporates an online application, online abuse prevention training, several levels of background checks, and paperless reference checks for people who volunteer or are employed with churches, schools, and organizations that serve or work with children, youth, and vulnerable adults.

SUNDAY MORNINGS 

Sunday School

With engaging themes and interactive crafts and games, Sunday School is a favorite amongst First Kids. Primarily using Orange Curriculum, our primary goal is to lay the Biblical foundation for which their faith is formed.

Prayground

Young children are encouraged to engage ​in worship through play through our Prayground. You’ll find a prayground at both our Downtown Modern Service and East Campus.

Children's Moment

Most Sundays in the Modern Service we invite kids to come forward for a brief but entertaining lesson on that week’s scripture.

WEDNESDAY EVENINGS

On Wednesday nights, kids discover how the Bible connects to their everyday lives. Through creative projects, cooking, games, and interactive activities, we explore real topics kids face—like friendship, kindness, courage, and faith. It’s a place where kids can ask questions, have fun, and grow in their relationship with God together.

We have many wonderful ministries for children at FUMC. We believe in helping our little ones grow in God's love and grace. To grow as a community of faith connecting them to God, to each other, and to the world. We strive to offer ample opportunities for our children to learn the importance of God's Word through small groups, enrichment programs, mission projects and more. We are committed to providing a strong foundation for them to become disciples of Jesus Christ.

Volunteer In Children's Ministry

We are always looking for new people to volunteer with our children's ministry programs. Review the opportunities below to find your fit:

• Volunteer to teach during our Wednesday programs
• Teach Sunday school for any age @9:45am (curriculum is provided)
• Volunteer during Vacation Bible School, Month of Fun events, and Club 45 Reading Club during the summer months
• Volunteer to help coordinate special seasonal events like Back to School, Christmas, Easter, End of School year, etc...
